Wholesale bakery launches regeneratively farmed wheat range

Wholesale bakery The Bread Factory has partnered with Wildfarmed to launch a new range of breads for foodservice wholesalers using flour from regeneratively farmed wheat

Regenerative farming avoids the emissions associated with conventional farming and actively contributes to the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere.  Ongoing research also shows significant nutritional, biodiversity and water quality improvements.

Dan Barrett, managing director Grocery, Wholesale & Commercial, The Bread Factory said: “Our mission is to make a positive impact on the entire supply chain. We want to create an environment where good practices can flourish, but we can’t do that alone. We want to work with likeminded companies that share these values, like Wildfarmed. Ultimately, it’s a win for farmers and a win for customers.”

Anomarel Ogen, head exec Baker, The Bread Factory says: ‘‘For us as bakers, great farming practices lead to great bread. That’s why we care about the entire supply chain journey. From how farmers and the soil are treated, to prioritising the nutritional value of wheat and how it’s milled. With our mission to play a positive role in improving the food chain system, we know how important it is to have a partner who cares about the entire journey too. With Wildfarmed, we can support a more sustainable way of farming that not only treats farmers well, but produces good quality, no ‘cide wheat that creates nutritious, sustainably sourced and delicious bread. We want to grow the market and drive demand for farmers working hard to supply regeneratively farmed wheat.”

Edd Lees, Wildfarmed co-founder added: “Wildfarmed wheat fields are full of birds, bees and bugs – they’re full of life.  By choosing to include Wildfarmed flour in their range of breads, The Bread Factory will actively be contributing to transforming huge areas of British farmland into healthy regenerative fields. Teaming up with The Bread Factory to support them in their mission to play a positive role in improving the food chain system is a huge milestone for Wildfarmed. We’re delighted to be able to work with The Bread Factory to make food grown from regenerative systems more widely available.”
