Brakes Scotland looks to home to meet snackifaction trend

Scottish oats company Stoats has secured a listing with Brakes Scotland for its ‘snackifaction’ trend-hitting Porridge Oat Bars.

The new listing at Brakes Scotland will see the Raspberry & Honey, Apple & Cinnamon, Blueberry & Honey, Fig & Date and the Classic Original Porridge Oats Bars being distributed by the wholesaler to operators across Scotland for the first time.

The Porridge Oat Bars, which have experienced a 30% year on year increase in sales according to Stoats, are now available from Brakes Scotland in 18x50g cases.

John McLintock, operations director for Brakes Scotland, said: “The Porridge Oats Bars are a fantastic addition to our ever-increasing Scottish range, and allow our customers to feel confident they are selling premium products packed full of taste, talent and provenance.

“We are delighted about the partnership with Stoats, and could see the potential in their thriving business – with two weeks of sales, we can already see customers are really enjoying the new snack bars both in coffee shops and leisure outlets, but also in hotels and restaurants.”

Managing director at Stoats, Tony Stone, added: “Securing distribution with Brakes is a great milestone for Stoats and further cements our place in the Scottish food industry.

“They appeal to a wide ranging audience and because of their convenient pack size (50g) they tap into the snackification trend, which is seeing consumers wanting to eat good quality goods, on the go.”

Stoats was established in 2005 by Stone and Bob Arnott.
