Bestway buys Bargain Booze

Bestway has bought Conviviality brands Bargain Booze and Wine Rack for £7m.

Conviviality’s retail arm, which also includes the WS Retail and Select Convenience chains, was looking for suitors after the company ran into financial difficulty.

Earlier this week, the wholesale division of Conviviality, including Matthew Clark and Bibendum, was bought by C&C, the owner of Magners cider.

Both deals were completed through a pre-pack administration process, which was overseen by PwC.

It has been a busy year for Bestway so far, following the wholesale giant starting a new van sales operation, and signing a five-year deal with symbol group Select & Save.
