Bestway’s Aberdeen site is set to undergo a major refit in January 2018 after being picked as one of 15 flagship depots for the new BB Foodservice arm of the business.

The aim is for the Scotstown Road depot – which opened as Edwards Cash & Carry in May 1976 – to become a powerhouse for BB Foodservice, which is aiming for national turnover growth of 16% in 2017.

As part of Bestway rebranding its foodservice arm, the wholesaler has handpicked 15 high-performing depots, including Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Plymouth.

Steven Young, the Aberdeen site’s general manager, said: “The depot currently makes upwards of 700 deliveries every week to more than 600 businesses within a 240-mile radius. And we expect those figures to increase dramatically as we look to expand the number of businesses we supply with a wide range of food and drink products and a local, personal service.”

Martin Race, managing director at Bestway Wholesale, added: “This is not just about delivering quality products at competitive prices. From recipes, tools and calculators to our tailor-made wine list design service – our support doesn’t end at the door. Whatever our customers need, our territory sales managers in Aberdeen are just a phone call away. And they relish a challenge.”
