United Wholesale Grocers is now working with software company PODFather to help it plan routes, track deliveries, provide customer ETA notifications and capture electronic Proof of Delivery in real time.

“Offering exceptional customer experience sits at the heart of everything we do here at United Wholesale Grocers so when we decided to update our internal systems it was essential that we found a supplier that could help us deliver our vision,” said Tom Slaven, retail director at United Wholesale Grocers.

“With PODFather we knew we’d found the right solution to help us meet our needs, in terms of delivery planning, customer notifications and vehicle tracking, all packaged up in one system.”

United Wholesale Grocers uses PODFather to organise route plans, gather vehicle check information, share job details with drivers, tracking delivery progress, and capture electronic proof of delivery.  The solution includes a cloud-based back-office system that transport, customer service and accounts teams can easily access, and an intuitive driver app which runs on the most basic of smartphones.

Having moved from a paper-based process to planning with PODFather, the United Wholesale Team are seeing big benefits in terms of customer satisfaction and OTIF (On Time In Full) deliveries as a direct result of improved planning and delivery tracking practices.

United Wholesale Grocers has introduced PODFather at a time when the wholesaler is seeing growth across its nationwide network and an increased appetite for a digital solution among its customers. “PODFather will have an important part to play in our future growth plans,” adds Slaven. “We are already seeing the customer service benefits that PODFather can deliver, and we are looking forward to improving transport efficiency further with the introduction of its automated route optimisation engine which will have an important part to play in helping us manage the impact of business growth on our transport operation efficiently.”
