Co-op Wholesale has appointed Bestway’s former director of trading – convenience Robbie Moore as its trading director, a move the wholesaler claimed would ‘shake up the wholesale sector’.
Until earlier this month, Moore worked for rival wholesaler Bestway. He has more than a decade’s experience in convenience including stints at Costcutter, Morrisons Wholesale, CJ Lang (Spar Scotland).
Upon his appointment, Moore said Co-op Wholesale is ‘building something special’ and has ‘ambitious growth plans’. Co-op Wholesale is also recruiting a ‘brand new’ trading team.

Co-op Wholesale said Moore’s focus will include working with suppliers, enhancing promotional offers and achieving ‘sustainable growth’.
The restructuring of Co-op Wholesale’s trading team follows a drop in its revenues and an operating loss in its most recently published accounts for the year ending 5 January 2025.
Commenting on his appointment, Moore said: “This role is about delivering real value to customers while building sustainable growth with our suppliers. I look forward to working with the team to drive innovation and execution across the wholesale channel.”
