JJ Foodservice reports record sales post-pandemic

JJ Foodservice has reported record sales following the reopening of the hospitality sector, with the company putting this down to the eating out market picking up and home consumers continuing to shop in bulk.

For four weeks in August 2020, total sales at the wholesaler increased by 9.27% compared with the same period the previous year.

JJ also managed to pick up thousands of new customers after launching a business-to-consumer service at the start of the pandemic. “We reacted immediately to the lockdown with the launch of our Next Day Home delivery service”, said chief operating officer Mushtaque Ahmed.

Smaller pack sizes were launched to help households to reduce waste and a Same Day Delivery service was offered in selected parts of London. “We placed quantity limits on essential items like toilet rolls and handwash, to allow more customers to buy and reduce panic buying,” added Ahmed.
