Investigations underway following fire at Irish wholesaler

Investigations are underway after a fire broken out at Waterford city wholesaler DG Foods on Saturday evening, with no injuries reported.

Writing on Linkedin, a statement from the management team said: “DG Foods & the Hepburn family would like to thank all well-wishers and all emergency crews from Waterford city fire station and Waterford Garda for their battle to try save our storage unit and our original store in Tycor Business centre for the last 20yrs.

This will be a blip in our business and a major setback, but thank got there has been no injuries as far as we know, we will pick ourselves up in the morning and keep our business running as per usual in the six cross roads business park as this has not been affected, DG Foods Wholesale, DG Retail & Press Coffee will be working even harder to get over this set back, can I also thank our staff across the group for the messages.  Andrew, Christine, Dean, Gareth & Sophie Hepburn”

A local news report said the fire broke out in the old Jute factory, which made packaging, in the Tycor Businesses Park area of the city, with several fire units from the city and surrounding towns working throughout the night to bring the blaze under control.
