Interview: Nina Grosicka of JJ Foodservice

Ahead of International Women’s Day we speak to Nina Grosicka, group accounts acquisition manager at JJ Foodservice, about how public‑sector contracts, cross‑department problem‑solving and daily customer demands shape her typical day

Can you tell us about your day‑to‑day role at JJ Foodservice?

In my role no two days look quite the same. Tendering is a big part of what I do — identifying new opportunities, managing PQQs and full bid submissions, and working closely with senior leadership to support JJ’s strategic growth.

A lot of this happens quietly behind the scenes, pulling together information, coordinating with different teams, and making sure our bids truly reflect the best of what JJ offers.

But alongside the tendering work, I’m also the first point of contact for our contracted accounts, which means I’m involved in the everyday realities of keeping things running smoothly. That can include supporting the sales team with orders, checking stock updates, resolving delivery issues, and working cross‑departmentally to improve processes and documentation.

Being involved in both the strategic and the operational side of the business gives me a real 360° view of how JJ works – and it keeps the job interesting.

What has been your greatest achievement over the past 12 months?

Professionally, I’m proud of playing a key role in securing and supporting the growth of several public‑sector contracts this year.

These projects take months of detailed work, collaboration, and persistence, so seeing them come together and contribute to JJ’s growth is incredibly rewarding.

On a personal note, another achievement has been simply keeping life in balance. As a mum of two young boys – seven and two – our house runs on equal parts noise, snacks, and negotiation. When school holidays come around my roles of bid‑writer, problem‑solver, and project‑manager suddenly extend into chef, entertainer, and referee. But as chaotic as it can be, it’s also taught me patience, resilience, and how to switch from “professional problem‑solver” to “Mum, look at this!” mode in under three seconds. I consider that an achievement too.

How does it feel to be recognised as a women making a big impact at JJ Foodservice?

It’s a real honour, especially knowing how many talented women contribute to JJ’s success every day. Much of my work happens quietly in the background, so being recognised for that effort feels incredibly meaningful. I’m grateful to Joanna for putting my name forward, and proud to be part of a company that values and celebrates the impact women make across all areas of the business.

Over the next year, Nina’s priorities include:

  • Strengthening JJ’s presence in the public‑sector and education markets
  • Refining tendering processes to make submissions sharper and faster
  • Improving cross‑department collaboration on contract management
  • Staying ahead of procurement framework changes and compliance requirements
