Former Caterforce chief launches foodservice support business

Former Caterforce managing director Nick Redford and Sodexo’s global category director for protein Warren Hamer have teamed up to launch a specialist food procurement support business for foodservice companies throughout the supply chain.

Arete Procurement Solutions will begin trading on 1 March and specialise in providing several services to, including on-going food procurement support, category strategy management, range management and own brand development across key categories. It will also advise clients on strategic issues such as adapting to major changes to the industry landscape.

Commenting on the launch, Hamer said: “Following a sustained period of food inflation, it is imperative that food businesses continually review their procurement process to ensure they are always getting best value. Nick and I have the knowledge, networks and know-how to ensure our clients are sourcing the best possible products at the most competitive prices”

Redford added: “It’s an exciting time for the industry but succeeding in foodservice can be down to fine margins. Having an in-depth knowledge of procurement and supply chains will allow us to provide sound commercial solutions. Our team will be dedicated to ensuring our clients are equipped to deal with ever-changing business challenges.”

Nick Redford recently stepped down from his role at the end of the year after a decade in the position, with group turnover having increased from £169m to £524m under his leaderships. He has been replaced by Gary Mullineux.

“During my time with the group, I have worked with some extraordinary people and members who are the driving force behind our successes, and I can’t thank them enough.,” he said. “It has been a difficult decision, but after almost a decade in the role I believe it is time for me to focus on new projects. As a group, we are in such a great position that we can confidently transition through this change and it will only add to our growing success.”
