A new vegetarian alternative to traditional wheat or corn tortilla wraps has been launched for food manufacturers and caterers by Brusco Food Group division Bruce & Co.
The bulk ingredients supplier’s egg tortilla wraps are a high protein, low carbohydrate and gluten-free product, which present the opportunity for manufacturers to diversify their food-to-go ranges and dietary choices.
The ready-made egg tortilla wraps target the foodservice industry and are supplied frozen with 40 wraps per box and 100 boxes per pallet.
Commercial manager Steph Skellern said: “Food companies should be able to take them in multiple directions. A few potential applications include a ‘breakfast wrap’ filled with bacon, roasted tomato and mushrooms, a Chinese-style wrap filled with duck and vegetables or a Mediterranean wrap with mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts and basil inside.
“The possibilities are endless and we expect innovative companies to exploit the full potential of these flexible egg wraps in a multitude of ways. We are not aware of any other bulk ingredient supplier in the UK offering a product quite like these wraps at the moment, so we expect this product to open up opportunities for catering firms, food processors and food service outlets to explore more adventurous flavour combinations as the wraps start to attract a wider cross-section of the population,” she added.
