Co-op Wholesale is shutting down its rapid delivery service Peckish and switching its focus to Snappy Shopper.

The wholesaler launched Peckish in February 2025 with an initial £1m investment and targeted a first-year sign-up of more than 1,000 stores, following a 30-store trial. The app is due to close on 2 November, according to The Grocer.

Co-op Wholesale has developed a new IT capability that allows independent retailers to integrate Snappy Shopper directly into its Evolution EPoS system.

By linking Snappy Shopper to the EPoS system, retailers will be able to process orders and avoid manual tasks such as pricing and stock control. The rollout begins in October.

In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Co-op Wholesale said: “We’re really pleased to share that we’re doubling down with Snappy Shopper.

“Our retailers told us they wanted to do more in QComm and home delivery and Snappy Shopper is best placed to do that, thanks to its market-leading technology, which is renowned for its excellence across independent retailers like those we serve. This marks an exciting move as we progress hand-in-hand with Snappy Shopper.”

The statement added that closing Peckish was the best way to support its retailers, giving them access to a larger customer base and a more “mature delivery ecosystem” through a single quick-commerce partner.
