Baker Street offers pre-baked sponge flan cases to foodservice sector

With the foodservice industry slowly returning to normality, St. Pierre Groupe brand Baker Street has revealed its new pre-baked sponge flan cases, which offer a quick and easy dessert option for caterers.

Foodservice outlets need to fill and serve these light, tasty and versatile flan cases with a choice of fillings for a tempting yet cost-effective dessert in minutes.

Available to foodservice wholesalers in packs of eight, the flan cases measure approximately nine inches in diameter (around 23cm), to serve eight people per unit.

Menu possibilities include a simple trifle, with strawberries, jelly and ready-made custard topped with peaks of whipped cream and more fresh strawberries. Or a crème patisserie flan topped with summer fruits.

The pre-baked sponge flan cases are available alongside Baker Street’s sponge cake layers (pack of three with eight per case), baked and ready to decorate, giving caterers the option to prepare quickly.

Louise Reynard, foodservice commercial manager for St. Pierre Groupe, which includes the Baker Street brand, said: “Some 1.5bn desserts were consumed by Brits in the 12 months up to November 2017 according to insights from the NPD Group and this volume shows no sign of dropping since, fuelled by the national obsession with The Great British Bake Off and Mary Berry.

“The challenge for caterers is how to meet this demand, particularly in the cost-sector, with a show-stopping dessert which is both cost-effective and quick to produce. Our sponge flan cases provide the solution; a helping hand for caterers which guarantees consistent results without impacting on quality.”
