Race named new MD as Bestway shakes up board

Martin Race has been appointed as the new managing director at Bestway Wholesale.

The move comes as part of the wholesale giant unveiling a new board structure following the decision by managing director Younus Sheikh to move to a non-executive role.

Sheikh, one of the original founding members of the business back in 1976, will continue to oversee the running of the wholesale business, but Race will now assume all day-to-day responsibility for the running of the wholesale business.

Elsewhere, Naser Khan, previously finance director, takes on the role of chief operating officer; Dawood Pervez replaces Race as trading director; Rizwan Pervez is set to move from operations director to a newly-created post of customer liaison director, while Paul Rowland will join the company to head up operations.

Sheikh said: “It is important that as we continue to take this remarkable business forward, we ensure we have the right management team and structure in place. In Martin, we have the ideal candidate to take over the day-to-day running of the wholesale business.”
