Sugro trade shows returns after three year break

Sugro face-to-face annual trade show returned after a three year break, with the event taking place in Glasgow across three days.

With over 200 attendees, members and suppliers also attended a conference, as well as an awards ceremony where they were recognised for their work.

O’Reilly’s Wholesale was named as the winner in the Retail Member of the Year awards category, the Environmental & Sustainability Award was won by Taylor Wholesale, the Digital Innovation Award was won by The Soft Drinks Company, the Specialist Wholesale Award was won by Rayburn Wholesale, the Community Champion Award went to Northern Confectioners whilst E-Natural took the Group Rising Star Award.

In the supplier awards, Alex McMillan, Suntory Beverage and Food GB & I won the Supplier of the Year Award, Fred Marshall, Nestle won Product of the Year Award for the launch of Kit Kat Zebra and Simon Murray, PepsiCo took Retail Club Supplier of the Year Award.

Derek O’Reilly of O’Reilly’s Wholesale commented: “This year, Sugro May Trade Show 2022 and AGM was live or should I say alive. Everyone attending as opposed to Zoom or Teams conference made such a difference and it was brilliant to catch up and discuss things face to face. All round this event you could feel the buzz from Members and Suppliers that Sugro was doing business as usual and doing it well!”

Yulia Petitt, Sugro head of commercial and marketing added: “We received fantastic feedback from our members and suppliers. We were exceptionally pleased with a high level of attendance and participation where all attendees had many opportunities to interact, network and continue to drive the business forward by capitalising on key elements of Sugro’s commercial strategy which is focussed on further digitalisation & technology, diversification into grocery, non-food and food service and business development. The performance of the Group has been exceptional over the past few years, and with some substantial multimillion turnover business done on the day of the show, I believe that the Group is set for another successful year of double-digit growth. I would like to thank all Members and Suppliers for their continuous support and participation.”

The Sugro group has had 16 consecutive years of growth with the Group year to date growth of +19% year on year (January – April 2022 versus the same period in 2021).
