Sugro rewards members at trade show

More than 200 personnel attended Sugro’s annual trade show and conference in Liverpool, with Youings Wholesale named Retail Member of the Year (pictured below) and Morris & Son Ltd for Environmental & Sustainability wholesaler at the event’s awards.

The Digital Innovation Award was won by R&I Jones and the Specialist Wholesale Award taken by Forrest Fresh Foods Ltd, meanwhile in the Supplier awards, Samantha Talbot, A G Barr plc, won Soft Drinks Supplier of the Year, and Adam Gibbons, KP Snacks Ltd was named as Crisps and Snacks Supplier of the Year, Rob Craven, Premier Foods plc won Grocery Supplier of the Year, and finally, Mondelez International received.

Sugro head of marketing & commercial Yulia Petitt said: “We were exceptionally pleased with a high level of attendance and participation where all attendees had many opportunities to interact, network and continue to drive the business forward by capitalising on key elements of Sugro’s commercial strategy which is focused on further digitalisation, diversification into grocery, non-food and food service and business development. The trade show was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Group with our Members and Supply Partners, well done to the Winners of the awards.”

Managing director Emma Senior added: “This was my first year attending the Sugro Trade Show as managing director and I was delighted to see such a fantastic attendance.  It was very rewarding to see many new suppliers and members, along with our Business Partners. As Yulia says, a key opportunity to drive business and network. A huge thank you to our presenters at the conference and many congratulations to the members and suppliers who won awards – all very well deserved. “

Meanwhile, Sugro member Forrest Fresh Foods can now offer Central Distribution services to certain Sugro members for Mars products.

Forrest Fresh Foods is one of the UK’s leading food and drink distribution specialists. The Rochdale-based wholesaler will operate from three central distribution sites across the UK including Northumberland, Greater Manchester, and London.

The Central Distribution facility will allow Sugro members, who were previously unable to open direct accounts or meet minimum order quantities with Mars UK, to place orders through Forrest Fresh Foods and enjoy the same pricing and promotion programme offered to Sugro members.

Neil Heseltine, sales development director commented: “We hope this will be a great opportunity for Forrest Foods and Sugro to develop and strengthen the brands on offer to Sugro members.”

Sugro Managing Director, Emma Senior added: “We continue to strive to seek solutions for our total membership and this is a welcome addition to the services that Sugro Buying Group offers.”
