Online growth fuels new Hancocks distribution warehouse

Hancocks has acquired a 140,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution centre in Manton Wood, Worksop to support the continuing growth of its online business, with 60 new jobs created as a result.

However, the company’s facility in Dunstable will close due to it not having the physical space to support the growth requirement, with the wholesaler hoping that many of the Dunstable team will opt to relocate to Worksop.

Hancocks permanently closes four depots

The wholesaler has already closed a number of depots this year, including its Coventry, Stoke, Croydon and Reading locations as a result of what the company describes as the changing nature of the business and a move to online ordering due to the current lockdown circumstances.

Steve Foster, managing director said: “Given the success of www.Hancocks.co.uk and our plans, we are investing in capability. In recent years we have upgraded our stores, invested in our web team and systems, and now distribution capability. This new site will allow us to significantly grow our services and product range to further support our customers.”
