Ahead of a relocation to a 120,400 sq ft purpose-built distribution centre in the coming weeks, JW Filshill has appointed Barry Duncan as its senior operations manager.
Duncan, who previously spent two years with Amazon as a manager working across two fulfilment centres, will now be in charge of logistics and warehousing at the Scottish wholesaler.

Filshill recently saw turnover rise to £191 million – up 23% from £155 million – in the year ending January 31, 2021.
Keith Geddes, Filshill’s chief financial and operating officer, commented: “Managing our logistics operation is particularly challenging given the pressures that all in the logistics industry are dealing with at the moment so we are particularly pleased to have someone with Barry’s experience and skill set joining the Filshill ‘family’ at this time.
“In particular, Barry’s continuous improvement focus will help us drive efficiencies from our upcoming move to the Westway site and help with our push towards a data-driven culture across the business while at the same time continuing to deliver best-in-class customer service.”
Duncan added: “Filshill has a reputation for really looking after its employees and placing huge emphasis on family values and the health and wellbeing of staff – that really attracted me to the company.
“I was also looking for a new challenge in a faster-paced environment close to my home in Port Glasgow so being part of the team leading the move to Westway ticks both of those boxes. I can’t think of a more exciting time to have joined such a dynamic business.”
I’m curious to see how Duncan will reconfigure Filshill’s new distribution center’s layout (http://www.retailsmart.com/planogram-service). I used to work at Filshill a few years back. The space was ok, but this looks like it’ll suit their needs a lot better.
