JJ Foodservice has secured a two-year £3m annual contract to supply North East councils in what will cover schools, nurseries, cafés, theatres, leisure centres, civic buildings and care services.

Running across two years and covering over 300 sites across eight councils, JJ has added more than 100 new product lines and expanded its operations with extra drivers and night-shift staff to meet the needs of the contract.

Baris Kacar, chief sales officer at JJ Foodservice, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our team. Our Newcastle team is proud to be playing a bigger role in supporting communities across the Northeast.”

Carl Telford, professional services lead at NEPO, said: “Local authorities need suppliers that deliver healthy, nutritious and affordable food while being easy and reliable to work with. We are delighted to work with JJ Foodservice, whose strong commitment to service will help us deliver quality, value and choice to the communities we serve.”

This deal adds to an earlier contract this year in which JJ secured £750,000 to supply frozen foods to Bolton Local Authority, in addition to its existing grocery supply. Furthermore, JJ has added grocery categories to its long-term frozen foods contract with Leeds Local Authority, bringing Leeds’s total contract value to over £2.5m and Bolton’s to around £1.4m.
