FWD announce new chairman

Landmark Wholesale Managing Director Martin Williams will take over from Booker’s Guy Farrant as Chairman of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) in April.

Martin, who has 30 years experience in the wholesale channel, will work with chief executive James Bielby and the FWD team to deliver its strategy of promoting wholesale, representing members’ interests to Government and improving communications within the supply chain.

Martin said: “I’m delighted to have been elected to succeed Guy who has been a fantastic Chairman. Over his two years in office FWD’s profile has risen significantly under his guidance and we are in an excellent position to push forward with our ongoing workstreams.

“In the year ahead we will be expanding our events programme to create further opportunities for bring wholesalers and suppliers together to discuss how we can provide a better service across the board for our customers. We will also be working with several Government departments to ensure the sector has a say in the development of policy and legislation, particularly around alcohol, food issues and crime against wholesalers.”

FWD represents food and drink wholesalers who supply and support hundreds of thousands of small retail and foodservice businesses. Its Council of Members meet four times a year. Guy Farrant became FWD Chairman in 2012 and will remain a member of the Council.
