Clegg’s Chilled Foodservice joins Sterling Supergroup

Clegg’s Chilled Foodservice has joined the Sterling Supergroup as its latest member, with the Lancashire chilled and ambient wholesaler joining with immediate effect.

Founded in 1984 by Mark Clegg, it was acquired by two of his children, Richard Clegg and Lucy Ross in January 2025. The business was originally a cheese business, supplying Lancashire cheese to local markets. Dairy remains a speciality within the operation, but the range is growing quickly, adding more ambient lines and looking to some frozen capacity in the near future.

Richard Clegg, managing director of Clegg’s Chilled Foodservice said “We are looking forward to getting stuck in and really feeling part of the group. We hope to learn from current members and share our chilled expertise, as we continue on our journey of growth.”

Daniel Larkin, chief commercial officer of Sterling Supergroup, added: “We’re really happy to welcome Cleggs and their team to Sterling Supergroup. Cleggs embody everything Sterling stands for: authentic, hard-working, and deeply community focused. That shared commitment to community is exactly what drew Cleggs to Sterling Supergroup and makes this partnership such a strong fit.”
