“Currently we have over 330 SPAR stores in Scotland and just over 200 of these are independent retailers. Our strategy for this year is to grow our SPAR Scotland business in recruiting new retailers, coupled with developing and growing our existing retailers.”

MacPherson added: “I am excited and delighted to have joined the business. I have worked in the industry for a decade but longing for this new fresh challenge with SPAR Scotland. I have been keeping a close eye on them, and they have really grown in the last few years and picked up ‘SWA Best Symbol Group’ for a 3rd year in a row earlier this year.
