Castell Howell awarded for school food project

Castell Howell has been awarded for a children’s food project, with the Welsh wholesaler picking up theYummy Award for the Best Local Initiative at the Children’s Food Awards.

The company collaborated with local farms and Bishopston Comprehensive School for the project which was headed up by 4theregion, a membership alliance working to bring about positive change in South Wales.

The project provided pupils with the opportunity to learn about local food production, sustainability, cooking, marketing, and agriculture. Castell Howell supplied vegetables grown in the Gower fields through its supply chain, and delivered them to the school.

Ed Morgan, group corporate social responsibility manager at Castell Howell Foods, said: “We are so proud to have been involved in this initiative, and winning this award is the cherry on top of the cake.

“We hope this collaboration between supply chain partners can develop and flourish, and continue, not only to improve children’s food, but to nurture and inspire the next generation of horticulturalists.”
