B2b.store chief executive Rob Mannion believes wholesalers and those working within b2b need to act straight away to ensure they understand the AI landscape to keep their business secure from data breaches.
Mannion was speaking on a panel for a webinar, hosted by compliance firm, Hicomply, that looked at how wholesalers face increasing cyber risks while balancing the efficiency of AI adoption. “I wouldn’t be surprised if millions of businesses in the UK haven’t already been compromised,” he said.

The AI experts discussed the new EU AI Act, which came into force this month and discussed about how to avoid falling foul of potential data breaches, with unregulated AI usage likely to be one of the biggest threats organisations face in coming years, especially with any private data leaked either giving away confidential business information or breaching GDPR rules.
Alongside Rob on the panel was the founder of an AI strategy business, a legal director from a law firm focusing on new technology, and HiComply’s VP of Product.
The EU AI Act is a regulation aimed at governing the development and use of artificial intelligence systems within the EU. It’s the first major AI regulation of its kind and focuses on risk assessment and categorisation of AI systems to ensure safety and ethical development.
