Bidvest Foodservice’s Andrew Selley named new FWD chairman

The FWD has appointed Andrew Selley, chief executive of Bidvest Foodservice, as its new chairman.

Selley, who is set to take over from outgoing chairman Martin Williams in December, will be the first chair in FWD history to come from a foodservice distributor.

Over the next two years, Selley’s priority will be steering the wholesaling industry through issues and opportunities that arise from the Brexit process. This will involve working to ensure that the industry’s interests are heard as the Government establishes what post-Brexit Britain will look like.

James Bielby, the FWD’s chief executive, said Selley’s experience within the industry would be vital over the coming years.

“There’s no doubt that the next few years will be politically and economically turbulent,” he said. “FWD will be playing a key role in guiding the industry through the changing legislative landscape, speaking to Government on behalf of our members as the impact of Brexit on our sector becomes clear.

“FWD is built on strong co-operation between members and other supply chain stakeholders, and thanks to Martin’s efforts as chairman we are in a great position to face whatever challenges come our way. We’re delighted that Andrew has agreed to bring his experience and enthusiasm to the task of carrying on this work.”
