Bestway Wholesale has relaunched its Tottenham depot in north London. Situated in the same industrial estate as the previous site, the new depot is larger, and will enable the depot to better service its retail customers.

Benefitting from category management insight, each aisle is now identified with relevant signage, highlighting categories and retailer must-stocks to help customers focus on best sellers and achieve the optimum core range.

“We have really gone to town with the new Tottenham depot from a category perspective,” said Richard Booth, director of category management.

Salih Sheikh, head of marketing, added: “Making it easier for customers to find the right category and products was paramount in our thinking when devising the depot layout. This new category focus will be rolled out across all depots in the coming months.”

The floor area – increased from 58,000 to 67,000 sq ft – has increased space given to alcohol, frozen food, and fresh & chilled, with the introduction of a world foods aisle.

Operations director Paul Rowland, said: “As current holders of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) Depot Team of the Year award, general manager, Ghufran Ashraf and his team now have a depot that meets their exacting standards.”

Ashraf added: “Locally, there are many cash & carries that undertake aggressive pricing strategies, and there are many specialist wholesalers that we have to compete with. While we will always be competitive on price, we believe that customers want more. The new depot not only looks fantastic but customers have more space, with till and cash-points being more accessible. Since we opened the doors mid-April, the response from customers has been phenomenal.”
