United Wholesale Scotland (UWS) has revealed a five-year strategy to achieve £500m turnover through organic expansion, strategic depot development, supplier partnerships and enhanced support for retailers.

The Scottish wholesaler, which recently picked up six awards at the SWA Achievers, said that investments it has made in improving customer service at its depots and field support helped it achieve double-digit organic sales growth in 2025, with the performance excluding contributions from the new London site.

The Rainham site opened last year and the Glasgow-headquartered wholesaler is using the new depot as the “blueprint” for the rest of its cash and carry network, following double-digit sales growth across the business.

UWS managing director Chris Gallacher said: “Over the past few years we have led the way in wholesale, particularly in digital, data and tech. It’s encouraging to see others in the market beginning to follow that direction — because ultimately that strengthens the entire wholesale channel for both retailers and suppliers.

“We’ve just taken our supplier partners through our new five-year growth plan and we are well on our way to building a business that exceeds half a billion pounds in turnover. Double-digit growth and industry recognition are achievements to be proud of — but we cannot be complacent. There is still so much more to do. Our ambition is clear: to remain the perfect partner for both our customers and our suppliers”.
