John Kinney, managing director of Unitas Wholesale explains: ”2020 and the beginning of 2021 have been challenging for everybody, however, it has been catastrophic for the Out of Home sector and the independent wholesalers that serve it with many having to close their doors temporarily while furloughing their teams. We appreciate that the financial impact of the pandemic on our Out of Home members is huge and damaging, and we hope that this one-off reduction in fees goes some way to demonstrate our understanding and commitment to our foodservice and on trade members”
Over the past few months, the Group has been preparing for “the comeback” of the sector putting several initiatives in place to help and support their Out of Home members including provision of in depot display boards, a virtual meet the member event and a sampling programme for Caterer’s Kitchen, the groups own brand range.
