McQuarrie leaves Booker role to become Tesco Central Europe chief

Jonny McQuarrie has left his role as Booker chief operating officer to become Tesco’s chief executive of the Central European region.

McQuarrie left One Stop in 20222 to take up the role at Booker and he replace Matt Simister, who recently announced his departure from Tesco.

Growth in Booker’s retail sales recently  crept below 1% for the first time since 2021, with Tesco investng more in value options for wholesale and the One Stop brand.

In its results for 2024/2025, like-for-like retail sales, excluding tobacco, grew annually by 0.9%, compared with 2.1% growth in its catering arm.
