Booker to fine customers for unused delivery slots

Booker Retail Partners (BRP) will penalise retailers £75 for every scheduled delivery slot they do not use.

In an email sent to store owners, seen by Better Retailing, the wholesaler said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to improve our delivery service to our customers, we have recently completed a review of our unused scheduled delivery slots, and the following change is now live.

“To ensure we continue to support customers with great availability, a £75 charge will now be made for any unused BRP scheduled delivery slot. Charges will only apply where scheduled slots have not been used.”

The wholesaler urged retailers to get in touch directly or with their RDM if they wish to review their delivery slots following the announcement.

BRP concluded: “This change will help us to improve the service for all customers by reducing the number of unused delivery slots. Thank you in advance for your support.”

Booker isn’t the only major wholesaler to recently review deliveries to retailers. In September, Co-op Wholesale announced it would be axing supply to retailers from rival symbol groups, a reflection of “Co-op brand standards.”

The decision does not impact its supply deal with Bestway, set to renew at the start of 2026.
