Fairway Foodservice to depart from Unitas

Fairway Foodservice leaves Unitas

Unitas Wholesale and Fairway Foodservice are to part ways at the start of February.

The decision has been made just a year after Fairway Foodservice joined Landmark as an associate member on 1 January 2018, and follows Landmark’s merger with Today’s Group’s to form Unitas at the end of last year.

Darren Goldney, managing director of Unitas Wholesale, said: “We respect Fairway Foodservice and its members and our open relationship with them allowed a full review of how we can be a synergistically efficient and commercially effective route to market. We mutually concluded that this would be best served by operating as separate group entities and we wish them every success for the future.”

Chris Binge, chief executive of Fairway Foodservice, added: “We did not make this decision lightly, but we have to do what we believe is best for our members to give them the best foodservice product sourcing options we can. I hope both businesses continue to grow successfully.”
