Suppliers urged to use new recycling label

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Mark Jankovich has called on food and drink suppliers to support a new era of sustainability in the form of a labelling system for the recyclability of plastic packaging.

If taken up by suppliers, the Recycled Plastic Rating (RPR) will be used on plastic packaging and enable consumers to have immediate visibility of the virgin plastic content they are buying.

Jankovich claims that the system will  “instantly give consumers the power to vote with their wallets and chose packaging that is fundamentally diverting plastic from landfill.”

His eco-cleaning product company Delphis Eco is the first business to take up the RPR. “We make the UK’s most eco-friendly cleaning products, which are also highly effective. Clearly, I buy a significant amount of plastic and it was inconceivable that I couldn’t buy UK collected and reprocessed single use plastic for my packaging.  There wasn’t enough in the market to buy.”
