Premier foods reveals new Insights & Trends Guide

Premier Foods has revealed its new Insights & Trends Guide, containing fresh research and offering a number of on-trend recipes to help chefs ignite their 2016 menus.

The supplier’s research revealed consumers want to see “more interesting fish dishes” on menus this year, alongside pulled pork and chicken dishes cooked and served in different ways. More than a third of consumers want to try more premium chicken dishes, such as ‘barbecue pulled chicken’, hot wings and chicken cooked in cola, the report says.

Sarah Robb, channel marketing manager at Premier Foods, says: “We hear about growing macro trends such as ‘trash to table’ and ‘optimised eating’, but were keen to find out what people really wanted to see on UK menus. We were surprised to discover that diners really want to see more fish on the menu – whether it’s a more indulgent battered fish & chips or a lighter fish dish as a healthier alternative. It is such a versatile ingredient.”

Premier Foods is working with wholesalers in a variety of ways this year, including spreading understanding of how food can be prepared to meet the needs of patients with dysphagia, which is when they have difficulty swallowing. This has included working with distributors including Brakes.
