Birchall turnover soars as foodservice firm eyes expansion

Birchall Foodservice landed a prize at last year's Burnley Business Awards winner

Birchall Foodservice has grown its turnover by 17.5%, and in line with this upward trajectory, the company is set to expand its premises by 48,000 sq ft.

Sales figures for January to December 2017 show company turnover reached an £25.3m, and employee numbers also rose in this period, from 132 in 2016 to 147 in 2017.

The projections for the coming year indicate performance in excess of this, the company said, and, in line with that expectation, Birchall will undertaken the premises expansion, which it hopes will increase employment opportunities, alongside boosted investments in trucks and equipment.

The company was established in 1939 and is a founder member of the Country Range Group. It has depots in Burnley, in Lancashire, Durham, in County Durham, Sheffield, in Yorkshire, and Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire.
